Evening everyone.

It has been a while since my last post so I thought a few days before the Aviva Indoor UK Trials and Championships would be a good time for my next.

This indoor season has been a bit different for me. After pulling my hamstring in the 200m at the Birmingham Indoor Games last year, as well as running a reasonably decent 400m relay split in China a the end of my 2011 season, my coach Jared Deacon and I decided that I would only run 400m this indoors.

My was race took place a few weeks ago now in Bratislava. I was very anxious in the build up to this race as it was my first individual 400m. The fact that I was running for England also added to my nerves. Unfortunately I was fairly disappointed with my race, as although I won, I could only manage 55.14s. Considering my training had been going really well and the times I had been running in training prior to this race were promising, I should have run a lot quicker than 55 seconds.

My next 400m race was at the Birmingham Indoor Games the following weekend. After realising I went through the first 200m far too slow in Bratislava, I made sure that I went a bit quicker through 200m in birmingham in order to improve my time. I was reasonably successful with this as I won again and dropped my time by a second to 54.19s. I still however did not run the race correctly, and therefore I am very much looking forward to competing at the trials this weekend so see if I can cut my time even further.

The trials will be a good tester for me as the possibility of three rounds in two days will be a good challenge. I am also looking forward to racing some of the top 400m girls in the country and testing myself against them. Hopefully the good competition will push me to a good time and i am therefore excited about what the weekend may bring.

See you on the other side..
