I used to HATE running in Oregon...

So this past weekend was the PAC12 track and field championships at 'Historic' Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. This is a track i usually run notoriously poor at; before this year i had never even broken 21 seconds at the complex! I was pretty excited to compete, training had gone well last week and despite a little soreness in my groin, i felt ready to run fast. I knew it would be a lot harder to repeat the double (100/200) this year at conference than it was last year. There are just simply too many fast guys in the PAC12 now! Prelims pretty ...

After the Indoor season i had, you can say i am rather pleased with how my 100/200 season openers went. My last race indoors was 6.95... 6.95!! My slowest 60m in a very very long time. I was very disappointed with how poorly i competed indoors and was seriously having doubts on whether this year was going to be as succesful as i had previously thought it would be. But the good thing about the environment i am in is that positivity is everywhere. Wise words from coach Sheen and some good skype sessions and emailing with Coach Callender got my mi...

Put weight back on... Open up with a low or sub 21 second run with minimal effort... Split an easy 47.x for a leadoff leg on my schools relay... That is how i envisioned the start of my indoor season going. Coming off the best season of my life so far, i thought it would be a no brainer that the few indoor meets i contested would have me posting impressive times. Not the case! I opened up with a lacklustre 21.47 clocking at my first individual race in Nampa, Idaho last weekend. On the surface 21.47 might not seem too bad, especially as i won my...

Hi all. I left Seattle for London on December 16th in the best shape i have ever been in that time of year. I was extremely confident that the next two weeks of training would be great, putting me in a position to attack January and the indoor season with a lot of success. After just two sessions back in London however i fell ill. Very badly ill. I was bed ridden and had managed to lose 4kg from my already slight frame. This wasn't exactly what i had been hoping for to say the least. I can say that my trip back home for the holidays was less th...

2011 was without a doubt the greatest season for me since i took up track. So entering training in mid October i knew that i needed to be even more well prepared for the 2012 season than i was for this past summer. Going to major competitions really whets your appetite, i find that every rep i run in practice i am imaging how it will aid me in the coming season. The minimal taste of success i had in July and August 2011 is the motivation for me to keep pushing in training. Not to mention the fact that i know that EVERY sprinter (NCAA or Domesti...
